Abstract. The paper considers approaches of Russian and foreign researchers to the phenomenon of mental well-being of gifted students and factors of influence of the environment on its shaping. The concept of “mental well-being” is revealed, social and emotional features of the development of gifted teenagers in connection with psychological well-being and educational environment are described. Specific psychological characteristics of gifted students are shown, increasing risks of their social adaptation and development. The results of theoretical analysis of educational environment with identification of characteristics that contribute to psychological well-being of gifted students and contain developing potential are presented.
