Spiritual and Moral Education in Educational Institutions of Irkutsk Region: Experience and Prospects

Abstract. The paper is devoted to the issues of spiritual and moral education implemented in educational institutions of Irkutsk region. The article shows the state policy in the sphere of spiritual and moral education, the need to form tolerance among schoolchildren, careful and respectful attitude to representatives of other nationalities and confessions. The article deals with the opportunities and resources of spiritual and moral education in the region, and the problems hindering this process. It is shown that in the region there are positive practices of spiritual and moral education, including the methodological support of implementing the courses ORKSE and ODNKNKNR, the work of innovative educational sites, teachers’ professional development. Based on the data analysis, the author concluded that the high level of schoolchildren’s spiritual and moral development provides the tolerant balance in the region.
