Abstract. The relevance of the paper is determined by the growth of ethnocultural and ethno-confessional interaction in the conditions of modern cultural and religious diversity of Russia, which requires modernization of the learning process in accordance with the nowadays educational policy in the field of multicultural education. The author assessed the current religious situation in the modern Republic of Buryatia; presented a brief retrospective analysis of the development of Buddhist religious education in the Republic of Buryatia. In the article the national and territorial features of implementing the module “Bases of the Buddhist Culture” (part of Bases of Religious Cultures and Secular Ethics course) in the Republic of Buryatia and educational potential of the methodological materials created on this discipline on the Internet are described. The paper can be useful for orientalists, educators, specialists in Buddhist and multicultural education.
