Abstract. Introduction. Stating the problem. The problem of education modernization updates the necessity of renovating and creating educational materials and school textbook (as the main instrument for education) in accordance with modern requirements and the demands of developing teacher’s professional competence especially its methodological component. Research Part. The author of the paper connects the development of teacher’s skills of choosing, analyzing and mastering the school textbook and the improvement of teacher’s methodological competence. Conclusion. This idea is actual for both meeting the challenge of university studies and teachers’ professional development.
