Abstract. Introduction. Obstetrics is known to be a special area of medical science, in which psychological competence of experts influences not only the deontological aspects of professional activity but also the effectiveness of treatment. At present, however, there is a contradiction between the current trends in the development of health care aimed at considering psychological factors in the treatment process and the system of professional education of specialists in this field, which does not provide the necessary psychological training. Methods and materials. To study this problem, the scientific and theoretical aspects of the development of psychological readiness of midwifery students for professional activity were analyzed. Research result. The study has revealed that psychological readiness as part of the comprehensive education provides a systemic approach to the development of the program for its formation. The main components of the program should correspond to the main components of psychological readiness. Based on an analysis of the literature on the topic in question, a program was developed for the formation of psychological readiness of future obstetricians, given the modern scientific and theoretical aspects of this issue. Conclusion. The systemic approach to the development of the training program for future obstetricians allows including additional knowledge and skills in the already existing system of psychological training of future obstetricians, where the section of medical and perinatal psychology will logically follow the section of general psychology and psychology of communication according to the current educational standard.
