Abstract.
Introduction. The contemporary state of education and social challenges determine the importance of the language and literature teacher’s creative competence development. The objective of the paper is to substantiate the necessity of developing the teacher’s creative competence from the perspective of the competence, systems and synergetic approaches.
Materials and methods. The paper considers the theoretical background of the teacher’s creative competence phenomenon and substantiates the independence of this notion with respect to the professional competence. The efficiency of the language and literature teacher’s competence development was proved empirically by interview and survey methods; diagnostic rapid test method developed by R. Johnson, the J. Renzulli method, as well as by proprietary methods.
Results. The teachers revealing a low level of creativity can successfully develop the students’ creative abilities provided they master the method of literary and creative abilities development, which forms the basis for the teacher’s creative competence. The practicability of the term “teacher’s creative competence” in the pedagogical and methodological thesaurus was proved experimentally.
Conclusion. The teachers’ training development approach, the focus on the literature and language teacher’s creative activity frame the practical importance of the research. The approach is promising due to the fact that the development of the literature and language teachers’ creative competence is crucial nowadays. The research may prove to be important for investigating the specific features of the creative competence development in the teachers of other subjects.
