Abstract.
Introduction. The paper demonstrates some methodological approaches to the patriotic education, including axiological, system-activity, interactive, and project-based ones, which were used as a basis for the organization of the summer camp sessions focused on patriotic education of personality. Consideration is also given to the influence of the psychological theory of activity motivation and the concept of socio-cultural development of an individual on the formation of patriotism in modern adolescents.
The materials and methods. The paper summarizes the experience of the theme sessions in the “Ugolek” summer camp in the Republic of Buryatia in 2016-2018.
The results of the research. A model of the theme military and historical camp session “Eastern borders of Russia” was developed and tested by a pedagogical team working on the formation of patriotic consciousness in the representatives of younger generations. During the camp sessions, the existing theoretical concepts of patriotic education were implemented. The activities in the summer camp involved various forms aimed at developing interest of school students in the national and regional history. They included master classes, tours, evening meetings, etc., which contribute to the love to the small Homeland, formation of responsibility for the future of the country, and promote deeper understanding of history.
The discussion and conclusion. A test of the military and historical camp model “Eastern borders of Russia” showed high performance of the model, and a great interest of campers in the kinds of activity and forms of work used during the implementation of the patriotic education.
