Abstract. Introduction. The research aims to identify and describe the general and specific psychological and pedagogical conditions, which contribute to the formation of professional motivation of students and its activation in a sociocultural environment of a technical school.

Materials and methods. The results obtained using the Effekton Studio program (questionnaires, surveys, pedagogical experiments (N = 60)) are presented. The research methods applied are the method of professional self-determination (according to J. Holland, E. A. Klimov), the questionnaire of “Profession Choice Motives” (by R. V. Ovcharov), the questionnaire of professional inclinations by L. JovayŠa (modification by G. V. Rezapkina); methods of mathematical and statistical processing and interpretation of data (Pearson criterion χ2). Results of the study. The criteria and indices of the formation of professional motivation of students are identified and summarized. For the index of  professional self-determination, the criterion is  entrepreneurial personality type; for the index of profession choice motives, the criteria are internal individually significant motives, internal socially significant motives, external positive motives; for the index of professional inclinations, the criterion is propensity to practical activities; for the index of professional competence, the criteria are an analysis of the production facility and development of production processes of manufacturing the machine parts. The formation of professional motivation in students in a sociocultural environment in a technical school includes several interconnected blocks (conceptual, operation-activity-based, value and personal).

Conclusion. The experiment has shown the adequacy of the developed program and its practical applicability to the stated problem. The prospects for further development of the study are associated with a deeper investigation of the conditions for psychological and pedagogical formation of professional motivation of students in a sociocultural environment of a technical school.
