Abstract:

Introduction. The article is devoted to studying the problem of fostering patriotism in the younger generation. It emphasizes the significance of conceptualizing the regional educational system and the importance of coordinating unified goals, organizational, and methodological measures and activities in the region aimed at forming patriotic values in students. The article contains materials that expand the understanding of the basic concepts, values and meanings of patriotism. Moreover, it characterizes regional approaches to organizing patriotic work in Luhansk People’s Republic, shaped by the republican Concept of educational work and the regional educational component called “Lugansk Character”. The work highlights the progress and results of an empirical study conducted in order to determine the current state of formation and expression of patriotic values among schoolchildren, reflecting the effectiveness of patriotic work carried out in the region.

Materials and methods. The methodological basis of the study consisted of the systemic, sociocultural, axiological, socio-psychological, and environmental approaches. The research methods included theoretical analysis, participant observation, online questionnaires, cluster analysis, and Spearman’s method. The study involved 2,998 students of grades 8 to 11 of comprehensive schools of the republic. The main research tool was a questionnaire designed to assess the formation and expression of schoolchildren’s patriotic values within the context of regional educational influence.

Results. The empirical study results allowed for determining the actual levels of formation and the degree of expression of students’ patriotic values. Additionally, the cluster groups of patriotic values characterized by high, medium, and low level of expression were identified. The data obtained made it possible to compile a generalized value profile of a teenage student

whose personality reflects patriotism.

Discussion and Conclusion. The research materials and their interpretation are of interest for the development of management and organizational decisions aimed at comprehensively increasing the effectiveness of the patriotic education system for younger generation, implemented across various levels of the education system.
