Abstract:
Introduction. The modern education system is characterized by fundamental changes in the content and methodology of training pedagogical personnel for science subjects. The transformation of the educational paradigm is driven by the need to develop comprehensive competencies in future teachers, including both traditional subject knowledge and innovative digital skills. The relevance of the study is determined by the objective need for scientific substantiation of the processes of transformation of pedagogical competencies of teachers of natural science subjects in the context of digitalization of education. The current stage of educational development is marked by fundamental changes in the requirements for the content and structure of teachers’ professional competencies, which raises the research question: what are the patterns and mechanisms behind the transformation of pedagogical competencies of natural science teachers under the influence of digital technologies? The purpose of the study is to identify the structural transformations of pedagogical competencies of natural science teachers under the influence of educational digitalization and to determine effective mechanisms for their formation in contemporary conditions.
Methodological Basis consisted of systemic, competency-based, and activity-based approaches, methods of theoretical analysis of scientific literature, questionnaire surveys, and expert evaluation. The empirical base of the study comprised the results of analyzing educational programs for training natural science teachers, questionnaire surveys of 287 university professors and 439 practicing teachers.
Results showed that the structure of professional competencies includes five main components: subject-methodological, psychological-pedagogical, information-communicative, research, and reflective-evaluative. The dynamics of competency content transformation under the influence of educational digitalization and the implementation of innovative educational technologies was revealed. It was established that modern competencies of natural science teachers are characterized by the integration of traditional pedagogical skills with digital technologies, research skills, and the ability for continuous professional development. Practical Significance of the study is determined by the possibility of using the obtained results to improve training programs for natural science teachers and create a system of continuous professional development of pedagogical personnel.
