Abstract:
Introduction. Attracting gifted and motivated young people to medicine and ensuring the development of the workforce potential of Russian healthcare require the targeted formation of a value-based attitude towards professional culture at the stage of choosing a medical career, specifically within the specialized training of high school students. The relevance of this task is determined by the contradiction between the objective need for a conscious choice of the medical profession and the lack of effective, holistic pedagogical models for introducing students to professional culture. The purpose of the study is to explore the pathways of introducing school students to the professional culture of medical practitioners within natural science specialized classes and medically oriented groups. The scientific novelty of the work lies in the empirical identification of specific deficits in the ethical awareness of school students, which justifies the need to search for new forms and update the content of education in specialized classes.
Materials and Methods. The study is based on the analysis of scientifi c literature, pedagogical documentation and empirical data. The main method is a questionnaire survey of 158 students of grades 10-11 with a medical focus from 7 schools in 3 constituent entities of the Russian Federation. The author’s questionnaire (of 12 blocks) was used, combining closed and open questions to assess professional orientation, value-ethical attitudes, etc. The data were processed using statistical analysis and qualitative content analysis of open answers.
Results. The eff ectiveness of practice-oriented formats has been empirically confirmed: project-research activities, situational tasks and clinical analyses, professional trials and internships in healthcare institutions. However, a qualitative analysis of the understanding of the “Hippocratic Oath” revealed the dominance of the paternalistic model, a fragmented understanding of the principle of “do no harm” and the principle of confi dentiality.
Discussion and Conclusion. The results demonstrate that existing approaches to the formation of extracurricular activity programs in specialized classes are effective for developing practical skills and social motivation, but are insufficient for fostering a deep, critically understood value-based attitude to professional culture, especially in its ethical dimension. To overcome the identifi ed defi ciencies, it is necessary to shift the emphasis from narrow professional skills to a conscious acceptance of the profession’s core values. The research prospect is to develop a comprehensive model of the content of extracurricular activities in specialized classes.
