Abstract. The article is devoted to the actual problem of studying the moral side of the personality of socially deprived mentally retarded schoolchildren. The author describes the research methods; analyses received results: the characteristics of the development levels of the 3d, 6th and 9th forms pupils’ moral qualities are given. In the paper the conclusion about positive dynamics of the development of a person’s moral qualities in conditions of the educational process at boarding school is made.
