Abstract. The modern social situation determines the desire of modern youth to adapt to a changing reality, to choose the most acceptable adaptation strategies. In these conditions, the problems of professional socialization of students in the educational process of the university are updated.
The purpose of the article: to characterize the features of the professionalization of future specialists in social work; highlight the factors affecting the professional formation of the person in the conditions of university training. In the course of the study, the following methods were used: a set of diagnostic procedures based on pedagogical, psychological and sociological research methods (survey, questionnaire, testing, etc.)
Study results. The content of the article is based on the results of monitoring studies of student youth of Buryatia conducted by the author in 2011–2022. Such features of the professional formation of the student’s personality are distinguished as the lack of awareness of applicants in choosing a future profession, the low level of their professional motivation due to obtaining a diploma as a priority goal. There are factors that determine the attitude of students to the chosen profession: the low prestige of the profession in society, work causes physical strain, insufficient level of remuneration. Comparative analysis of the monitoring study made it possible to present the characteristics of social activity of student youth as one of the factors influencing their professionalization.
