Abstract. Introduction. The article focuses on the challenges of preparing students for the state final certification in literature. When conducting a unified state exam in this subject, tasks of different types and levels are offered, and certain methods are used to assess the quality of work performed. Consistent, systematic emphasis on certain knowledge, skills, and abilities in the process of working on examination tasks will contribute to the successful completion of certification tests.
Materials and Methods. The Federal State Educational Standard and the Federal Work Program for Literature guide teachers towards the need to develop personal learning outcomes, which are assessed in the process of state final certification. The methodology of checking and evaluating the results of completing the tasks with extended responses presented in the testing and assessment materials of the Unified State Examination in Literature determines the choice of the methodology of preparation for the exam, which uses different methods and techniques of analyzing literary text: holistic analysis in the unity of form and content, problem analysis, intertextual comparative analysis. The materials for the study were the students’ exam papers presented in the “Expertise” software package.
Results. The specificity of written examination tasks that require students to give a detailed answer is characterized, and the methodology of working with them in the process of preparing for the state final certification is proposed.
Conclusion. It is concluded that it is important to develop throughout the educational process the necessary skills and abilities to perform various types of written tasks, allowing students to successfully pass examination tests.
