Abstract. The article presents the results of a longitudinal study devoted to solving the problem of overcoming difficulties in the social and communicative development of children with severe
intellectual disabilities.
The purpose of the study is to scientifically substantiate and develop the content of correctional and pedagogical work on the formation of social and communicative skills in preschool children with severe intellectual disabilities at the stage of inclusion in a peer group of a preschool organization
Experimental sample: children of primary preschool age (3–5 years old) with severe intellectual disabilities who attended compensatory groups (72 children).
Methods: generalization of experimental data.
Conclusion. Three stages of scientific and experimental research are described and its significant scientific, theoretical and practical results are presented: different levels of development of social and communicative skills in children of the nosology under study are identified, and their phenomenological description is given; within the framework of reflection of
pedagogical conditions, the step-by-step content of corrective education of children in the compensatory group of preschool institution is revealed; the validity of using algorithms of actions of an adult as an organizer of game situations with children is experimentally proven. children with severe intellectual disabilities, social and communicative skills, social and communicative development, social development, correctional education
